Miles Davis Centennial | Keyon Harrold at Carnegie Hall

  • May 17
  • 1 min read

On Saturday, May 16th, Keyon Harrold honored Miles Davis’ Centennial with a masterful concert at Carnegie Hall. Miles Davis performed at this same storied venue on May 19, 1961. While watching the former, I couldn’t help but be struck by their trajectories. Trumpeters hailing from the same area in the middle of our country (East St. Louis / Ferguson) radiating their musical and cultural impact globally. But more than music, Keyon builds community and it’s evident in the way people show up and out!

There is nothing quite like watching your friends excel on the grandest stage! We are all better for it; the in-person sold out crowd and the legions who listened to the WBGO Jazz livestream around the world. Thank you for letting me take part in your special night. So very excited to see where your adventure leads next.
